چکیده

Background. Gastric cancer is one of the leading causes cancer-related deaths across world and in Middle East. Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpression has been observed gastric cancers. Trastuzumab, a recombinant monoclonal antibody targeting HER2 protein, being used for treatment metastatic cancer. Objective. To study frequency association with age, gender, histopathological subtype grade differentiation patients adenocarcinoma from Basra, Iraq. Methods. This cross-sectional single-center collected demographic (age, gender), (histological subtype, differentiation) immunohistochemical (HER2 status) data 100 consenting adult (male: 56) histopathologically confirmed samples obtained through endoscopy or surgery. Results. (ToGA score 3+) was 6/100 (6%) patients, another 6 showing ‘equivocal’ expression (2+). Out 20 moderately differentiated cancer, 4 (20%) showed (p=0.008). Other factors considered histological subtype) did not show statistically significant correlation overexpression. More females than males (4 vs 2), more intestinal type diffuse (5 1), but difference both variables. Conclusion. 6% this population; found grade. Statistically non-significant correlations were between subtype.

Imaging features of estrogen-negative breast cancers: a correlation study with human epidermal growth factor type II overexpression

Background: Estrogen-negative breast cancers have different clinical course, prognostic features and treatment response in comparison to estrogen receptor-positive (ER-positive) breast cancers. Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) oncoprotein has found to have a pivotal role in natural cell growth and cell division and is suggested to be directly related to tumor invasiveness in brea...

Detection and Significance of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 Expression in Gastric Adenocarcinoma

BACKGROUND Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is involved in the pathogenesis of several types of cancer, including gastric cancer. Overexpression of HER2 is noted in 10%-22.8% of gastric adenocarcinoma and its identification is of immense importance for management by targeted drugs. Detection of HER2 expression in gastric malignancies has not been undertaken previously in the loca...

Breast Carcinoma; Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-2 (HER-2) and Grading Correlation

Introduction: Overexpression of Human Epidermal Growth factor Receptor-2 (HER-2) is one of the most important prognostic and predictive factors of breast cancer, observed in 25% - 30% of breast carcinoma patients leading to poor prognosis and feasible anti HER-2 antibody drugs. The objective of this study was to evaluate the HER-2 frequency in target population and its correlat...

Altered Expression of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in Glioma

EGFR is a key molecule in cancer cells. EGFR signaling was shown to promote tumor cell proliferation and survival, invasion and angiogenesis and mediate resistance to treatment, including ionizing radiation in preclinical models. We extracted proteins from astrocytoma (III and IV) oligodendroglioma(IV) tumors and normal brain tissues and then evaluated the protein purity by Bradford test ...
